This is a beautiful Marantz 2325 receiver.  It came to me in completely original condition.  It sounded good but definitely needed some work.

I was expecting to find the typical signs of normal use like burned areas around the high wattage resistors and melting around the faceplate lamps.  However, the shroud around the lamps was perfect without any discoloration and the boards were free from heat scorching.  That was a good sign!

The Marantz factory assembler used the dreaded "glue" sparingly, that was a huge relief.  The "glue" has a tendency to corrode leads and create all sorts of problems.  I worked through each board to remove the old capacitors and clean off the residue.  Once cleaned, I installed new high-grade caps throughout the power supply, phono, preamp, and amplifier sections.   I also replaced a handful of the common failure-prone transistors and diodes in the preamp and phono sections.  I elected to not rebuild the Dolby section and tuner.

I installed cool-blue LEDs and replaced the velum paper behind the display.  The tuning scale is a bright deep blue and looks awesome.

I completed the work, checked all the voltages, set the bias, and began testing.  It sounded great.  After a few hours I adjusted the voltages and bias to factory specs.  I tested this receiver through a few pairs of speakers and finally sat down to gauge it's performance with some critical listening.

Comparing audio equipment is a tricky endeavor, and explaining the differences is difficult.  The Marantz sound is very clear, and the tone controls are excellent.  The bass response probably stands out to me as the most impressive trait.  The phono section is very quiet and performed well with my Ortofon 2M Blue mounted in a Sansui SR717.  I ran the AUX input with my DAC and tested the in input with various amounts of gain to judge it's ability to pickup weak signal strength, it performed very well.

There is one imperfection that is worth mentioning, a scratch on the left side of the Dolby Switch, I documented it in the photos.  Aside from that, it's in excellent cosmetic condition. I can send more pictures and a video if you are interested.  Just reach out to me and I can answer any questions.  Professional packing and shipping the the 48 states is included in the price.

Thanks for checking out this Marantz 2325!  -Bob
