This Pioneer SX1250 came to me in original condition along with the dust and dirt I typically discover in these restorations.  The chassis under the transformer and filter caps was corroded and the heat sinks showed signs of use from 45 years of enjoyment.  I elected to perform a cosmetic restoration before undertaking the electrical work.

The rear chassis was cleaned and painted to eliminate any further oxidization and to provide a clean backdrop under the new filter caps.  The top cover, bottom cover,  heatsinks, output covers, and shields were sandblasted and painted satin black to match.  The paintwork came out very well, however it is not original.  Please review the pictures carefully to examine the paintwork as it's not perfect.  I respect the intersection between original and restored cosmetics, I chose this route because I felt it was the best decision based on it's condition.  The faceplate does have a few cosmetic imperfections as do a few of the knobs.  The wood case is a new reproduction by eBayer: allanh151610 -it's awesome.

I began this description with the cosmetics to emphasize the nature of this receiver.  It is very nice, however it is not an original survivor.  This is understandably important to many vintage audio enthusiasts.

Aside from the cosmetic work, this SX1250 received a complete electrical restoration including the small-signal transistors and failure-prone transistors in the power supply sections.  Any re-used transistors were tested and reinstalled with new thermal compound. It was recapped with high quality components.  New LEDs were installed behind the tuner display and the 9 small indicator bulbs were also upgraded to LEDs for many years of trouble free use.  All contacts were cleaned properly by removal from boards as needed.  Bias set, DC offset verified, and power supply voltages were set. The tuner was not restored aside from cleaning the main tuning capacitor.  The tuner works perfectly and pulls in many stations I usually struggle to hear with other gear.  I've ran the Pioneer for about 8 hours to fully test all inputs and verify healthy operation.  It runs cool and sounds excellent.

The price includes free packaging (double boxed) and shipping to 48 states.

Please let me know if you have any questions, thanks for checking out this SX1250 and have a great day!
