The late 1970s and early 1980s marked a new design feature for Pioneer.  The "Floroscan" models retained excellent built quality with new VFD (vacuum fluorescent display) hidden behind a blue color filter.  The result is a cool design that is visually appealing and sonically impressive.

The real wood case on this Pioneer is stunning. The end grain on the front is capped with 1/8" veneer, and the top veneer is also 1/8" thick.  This is much higher quality than most of the wood cases that many brands manufactured before and during this period.  The case really is beautiful, please check out the photos.

The faceplate is a touch more reflective than the previous models and the knobs have more solid features.  The effect is impressive especially against the wood case.

The blue display is awesome.  All the cells in the VFD are working well.  The meters were calibrated during the restoration. The cells respond quickly to peaks and reset to off with no ghosting or dim cells.

Speaking of restoration; new capacitors were installed and all the controls were cleaned.  The Bias and DC were set and verified after a few hours of break-in. The filter caps were increased in capacitance to account for the factory clamp diameter and voltage.  All voltages were verified and the heatsink doesn't get hot after pushing high wattage for extended listening.  The chassis and trim pieces are in fantastic condition with no corrosion.  The rear face panel is clean as are the RCA jacks.

Shipping to the 48 states is included.  Thanks for checking out this beautiful Pioneer SA8800.  if you have any questions, please ask!  -Bob
